Gas Network Funding NIA/NIC/SIF
NIA projects
DPS have been involved with a number of Network Innovation Allowance (NIA) projects. These are smaller innovation projects (≤£1m) that are funded from within the Gas Networks.
The Gas Distribution Network (GDN) still have to justify the projects both internally and with Ofgem.
The role has included developing the scope and costing of the new NIA projects.
The various stages that have been managed are:
- Innovation ideas generation
- Preparing the internal justification and present the project internally
- Writing of the Project Eligibility Assessment (PEA)
- Negotiating external funding requests
- Internal fund request
- Ofgem NIA Annual report
- Close out report and lesson learnt
NIC Projects
DPS have been involved with a number of Network Innovation Competition (NIC) projects within the gas industry is for innovation projects up to £20m.
The role has included developing the scope and costing of the project to enable the preparation of the bid document to Ofgem.
This includes:
- Preparation of the submission of the initial project scope (ISP), for approval by Ofgem to progress to the full bid stage.
- Coordination of the bid preparation, typically with a number of Partners. This would involve clarifying their involvement and part funding to incorporate in to the full submission.
- Preparing the NIC presentation to Ofgem’s Expert Panel.
- Managing the approved NIC project.
- Writing the annual Ofgem report.
